Removing duplicate contacts from your Excel file is easy if you have Excel 2007 or later.
1. Open Your Excel File.
2. Highlight all columns starting in the row below the headers.
3. Click on the ‘Data’ tab on the top menu. Uncheck all of your column names except for the mobile number column. This will mean that duplicated phone numbers will be removed, regardless of whether the names match.
4. You will be shown a message to tell you how many duplicates were removed from your list.
In the compose view, you can type any word or number in the ‘From’ field and you will appear on your customers phones as this name. This is limited to 11 characters, so you may have to shorten your name to fit it. You must check the box to agree that you will not impersonate any person or entity or to misrepresent your affiliation to any person or entity.
Also, please bear in mind that using a name other than a valid mobile phone number will mean that your customers will not be able to reply to your messages.
When you compose a new message, click ‘Send Later’ instead of ‘Send Now’. This will let you choose a date, time and frequency for the message. If you would like to send the message only once, but on a future date, you can choose ‘Repeat > Once’.
If you would like the same message to send repeatedly, you can choose to repeat hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or even annually. You can also set start and end dates if you only want your message to repeat for a specific period.
If you wish to opt out from offers sent using Message Hero, simply text ‘STOP’ to 51772.
You can check the status of your message on the Message Details page within the Reports section.
Each SMS will cost 3.3p of your message credit.
Regular texts contain up to 160 characters (interesting fact: the € symbol takes up two characters!).
Message Hero – similar to most mobile phones – has the ability to send long or “multi-part” texts. When you send a multi-part text, each part contains a maximum of 153 characters, and each part costs the same as a regular text i.e. 3.3p. There is a maximum of 3 parts meaning you can send up to 459 (3 x 153) characters.
So, there is no problem for you to go over the 160 character limit but it will cost you more credit.
A standard text can have up to 160 characters. There are certain special symbols (e.g. €) that count as more than one character. The character counter on the Send Message page will take this into account so you will always know the length of your message before sending. Message Hero also allows you to send multi-part messages which can be up to 459 characters long (3 x 153 characters).

SMS stands for Short Message Service and is a way for mobile phones to exchange short text messages. Standard text messages can be up to 160 characters but messages can be concatenated to provide up to 459 characters.
